Oct. 16, 2006 -- NEW YORK -- Our webhost has completed moving our site database to a new server.  Although it may take as long as 12 hours for the changes to propagate, there already is a marked improvement in our site speed.

  The site continues to be much slower-loading than I would like, and we are continuing to take various steps to improve our speed.  However, there are limits to what we can achieve in a shared-server environment.

  We intend to move to a dedicated server as soon as funds permit.  This should allow us to bring the page-loading speed to two seconds or better.  Kindly bear with us as we reach for this goal.

   If you believe in the value of our independent news media project, please consider a financial donation -- if you can afford it.  Any donations we receive will go directly into site improvements, including a dedicated server.  If you are not able to make a financial donation at this time, just keep reading our site and tell others about it.  All readers are welcome to participate in our project in any way they see fit.
