Oct. 21, 2023 (Bing) -- One of the candidates for the most distant object is JADES-GS-z13-0, a galaxy that has a light travel distance of about 13.6 billion light-years and a redshift of 13.2.
Redshift is a measure of how much the light from an object is stretched by the expansion of the universe. The higher the redshift, the farther and older the object is.
Another candidate is HD1, an object that is estimated to lie around 13.3 billion light-years away and has a redshift of 15.5. However, this object has not been confirmed yet and may be an artifact of data processing.
The most distant object ever seen from Earth may change as new observations are made with more powerful telescopes, such as the James Webb Space Telescope, which was launched in December 2021.
